Dong Shaojiang (male; Han ethnicity; born in December 1982, Zhaoyuan, Shandong Province) is a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), a third class professor, doctoral supervisor, and postdoctoral cooperative supervisor. He currently holds dual leadership roles as Vice President and Standing Committee member of the Party Committee of Chongqing Jiaotong University.

Professor Dong obtained his Ph.D. in Engineering from the College of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering at Chongqing University in December 2012, with his doctoral dissertation receiving the Chongqing Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2013. Commencing his academic career in January 2013 at Chongqing Jiaotong University, he has since established a research trajectory focused on two domains: (1) the development of specialized robotic systems and (2) mechanical fault diagnosis methodologies.

His scholarly contributions are evidenced by leadership roles in 15 nationally and provincially funded research initiatives, including grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), key programs administered by the Chongqing Science and Technology Bureau, and interdisciplinary research groups supported by the Chongqing Municipal Higher Education Innovation Program. Notably, he has engineered eight robotic platforms for transportation infrastructure inspection, demonstrating translational applications of theoretical research.

Academic distinctions include recognition as a Leading Scientific Innovation Talent under Chongqing’s Three Hundred Talents Program (2018) and three provincial-ministerial awards, most prominently the Science and Technology Progress Award conferred by the China Highway Association. His scholarly output encompasses over 110 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals spanning mechatronics, reliability engineering, and intelligent systems, including IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, Reliability Engineering & System Safety, and Automation in Construction.
